A gift for someone who’s walked the Pennine Way
Someone you know has walked the Pennine Way. That’s 270 miles from Edale to Kirk Yetholm, over Kinder, Bleaklow, Cross Fell and the long, wet miles of the Cheviots. Most people take two or three weeks. Some do it in sections over years. Either way, they’ll still be talking about it long after the boots have dried out.
So what do you give someone at the end of that?
What makes a good Pennine Way gift
The best gifts for a long trail tend to do one of two things: help with the next one, or keep hold of this one. Kit is easy to get wrong, because walkers usually have strong opinions about their boots and their packs. Something that marks the walk itself is harder to get wrong, as long as it’s about their walk and not just any walk.
That means the route they actually followed, the date they finished, and their name. Those are the details they’ll look for.
A print of the route they walked
Our Pennine Way print shows the whole National Trail from Edale to Kirk Yetholm, drawn over an Ordnance Survey map with the climbs underneath. The line is the official route from Natural England, so you don’t need a GPX file or any details from them to order it.

You add:
- their name
- the date they finished, or whichever date means most
- their time, if they’d like it on there
- a photo from the walk, if you have one
You see the finished print before you pay, so you can check every detail first.

If they walked it in sections
Plenty of people walk the Pennine Way a few days at a time, over a few summers. The print shows the full route, so it works however long it took. Use the date they finished the last section, or the date they started, if that’s the one they talk about.
If they went their own way
Took a variant through the Cheviots, or a detour for a bed for the night? If they recorded the walk, they can upload their own GPX file and the print is drawn from the line they actually walked. Our GPX help page shows how to export it from Strava, Garmin Connect, Komoot or OS Maps.
If you don’t know the details
Don’t know their finish date, or want them to choose the style? Give them a gift card instead. You choose the amount and the day it arrives by email, and they make the print themselves.
If they ran it
Some people run the Pennine Way, and a few do it in January. For anyone who finished the Spine Race, there’s a Spine Race print with their finish time as the headline.
A few other ideas
- The official certificate. National Trails offers a completion certificate for the Pennine Way. It pairs well with a print, framed side by side.
- The next trail. If the Pennine Way has given them the bug, the Coast to Coast and Hadrian’s Wall Path are natural next walks, and we print both.
- A day closer to home. The Edale Skyline starts where the Pennine Way does, and makes a good one-day print for a walker who keeps going back to the Peak.
Questions people ask
Do I need their GPX file to buy a Pennine Way print?
No. The route is already drawn from the official National Trail line. You only need their name and the date.
Can I add their finish time?
Yes, if they’d like it on there. It’s optional.
Can I give it without them knowing the details?
Yes. Choose a gift card and they can make the print themselves, with the date and style they want.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
Not at the moment. We deliver to UK addresses only, and delivery is free and tracked.
