Personalised prints from real GPX routes For the days you still talk about.

We turn the runs, walks, rides and road trips that meant something into prints for your wall.

Why we started

I started running in 2014, when I entered the London Marathon to raise money for the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation. That led to trails, and the trails led to Chamonix: I finished UTMB in 2016. A year later I set the course record at the Hardmoors 110, the first runner to get round the Cleveland Way in under 20 hours. Since then there have been skyraces in the Lake District and Wales, and in 2025 the Montane Spine Race: 268 miles of the Pennine Way in winter, in 134 hours, 20 minutes and 28 seconds.

Not every day goes to plan. I’ve started Ultra-Trail Snowdonia three times and haven’t finished it yet. The first attempt ended in A&E in Bangor with ten stitches in my knee after a fall on Moel Siabod. The second, I wasn’t fit enough. The third, I couldn’t eat enough to keep going. I’m hoping to go back in 2027, my 50th year, and finish the job.

There are 4,657 activities in my Strava account. Plenty of them were proper adventures, and most are now a line among thousands, half forgotten. It’s the same with the road trips my wife Victoria and I have done round Iceland and Norway, and the walks and runs we’ve shared in the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. They deserve better than a phone photo album.

So Memories Made Outside is about bringing those days back and putting them on the wall. I run it from Skipton, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. I design the prints, draw and check the ready-made routes, and answer your messages myself.

What we care about

  • Three runners on a rocky moorland path at sunset

    Made from your own file

Upload the GPX file of your day and the print is drawn from it: the line you actually took, wrong turns and all. Not a stock map.

Doing a classic round, race or trail? We’ve drawn the route for you, so you add your name, date and time. Or upload your own file and the print follows your line instead.

  • A gravel bike leaning on a gritstone crag above a reservoir

    Not just race days

A first marathon, yes. But also the walk you always do, a long ride with friends, or a fortnight driving round Iceland. If you recorded it, it’ll print.

  • A car on a gravel road above the coast in Iceland, partway round a road trip

    The day comes first

Restrained design, real figures and plenty of space, so the route is the thing you notice. The name you gave it, the date, the distance and the climb.

We don’t use race or event logos, or suggest any link with organisers. Your name and your time go on it, not theirs.

Made to last

Every print is made to order from the design you approved, then printed and framed in the UK.

  • Fine-art paper

Giclée printed with pigment-based archival inks on 200gsm Enhanced Matte Art paper. Its smooth, natural-white matte surface keeps map detail, type and the route line crisp.

  • Solid wood frame

Framed prints come in a solid wood frame with a satin-laminated finish, in black or white, or natural wood with an oak-effect finish, behind shatter-resistant Perspex glazing. They arrive ready to hang.

  • Made to order

Printed and framed in the UK. Nothing is printed until you’ve seen your preview and ordered.

  • Carefully packed

Prints and frames are protected in robust cardboard packaging for the journey.
