A gift for someone who’s climbed Yr Wyddfa
Someone you know has climbed Yr Wyddfa. At 1,085 m it’s the highest mountain in Wales, and for a lot of people it’s the first big mountain they ever stand on top of. Maybe it was a first proper hill day, a family walk that took longer than planned, a charity climb, or the third summit of a long Three Peaks weekend.
Whatever the reason, they’ll remember the path they took, the weather at the top and who they were with. So what do you give someone after that?
What makes a good Yr Wyddfa gift
Most people come home with a photo at the summit and not much else. A good gift holds on to the day itself: the mountain, the way they went up, the date and the people who were there.
A print of the path they took
Our Yr Wyddfa print draws the path to the summit over an Ordnance Survey map, with the climb shown underneath. You choose the path, so you don’t need their GPX file to order it. If they recorded the walk on a watch or phone, you can upload the GPX instead and the print follows the line they actually took.
You add:
- their name
- the date they climbed it
- their time, if they’d like it on there
- one photo from the day, or three
The title is yours to edit too, so it can say Yr Wyddfa, Snowdon or both. You see the finished print before you pay, so you can check every detail first.
Which path did they take?
There are six main paths to the summit, and we’ve drawn each one, up and back the same way:
- Pyg Track, from Pen-y-Pass: 10.7 km and 741 m of ascent on our line
- Llanberis Path, from above Llanberis: 12.2 km and 843 m
- Miners’ Track, from Pen-y-Pass by Llyn Llydaw and Glaslyn: 13.4 km and 771 m
- Watkin Path, from Nant Gwynant: 13.1 km and 1,030 m
- Rhyd Ddu Path, from Rhyd Ddu: 11.8 km and 898 m
- Snowdon Ranger Path, from beside Llyn Cwellyn: 12.5 km and 917 m
Plenty of people go up one way and come down another. A popular pairing, up the Pyg Track and down the Miners’ Track, is there to choose as well.
If they don’t remember which path it was, it’s usually in the name of the car park: Pen-y-Pass for the Pyg and Miners’, Llanberis for the Llanberis Path.

If they went another way
Crib Goch, the Snowdon Horseshoe and the other routes up aren’t among our lines. If they recorded the day, upload the GPX and the print is drawn from their own route, whichever way they went.
If it was part of something bigger
Yr Wyddfa is often one summit of several. If it was part of a bigger challenge, we print those too:

Do I need their GPX file to buy a Yr Wyddfa print?
No. Choose the path they took and we draw it for you. With their GPX, the print shows the exact line they walked instead.
Can the print say Snowdon instead of Yr Wyddfa?
Yes. You edit the title yourself, so it can read Yr Wyddfa, Snowdon or both.
They went up one path and down another. Can you print that?
Yes. Up the Pyg Track and down the Miners’ Track is one of the paths you can choose. For any other pairing, upload their GPX.
Can I put their time on it?
Yes, if they’d like it there. The time is optional, so you can leave it off and keep the print about the day.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
Not at the moment. We deliver to UK addresses only, and delivery is free and tracked.
