A gift for someone who’s walked the West Highland Way
Someone you know has walked the West Highland Way. That’s 96 miles from Milngavie, on the edge of Glasgow, to Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis. It starts gently, follows the length of Loch Lomond, crosses Rannoch Moor, climbs the Devil’s Staircase and drops to Kinlochleven, before the last stretch through the Lairig Mòr to Glen Nevis. Most people take about a week, and come home with stories about the weather, the midges and the people they kept bumping into along the way.
So what do you give someone at the end of that?
What makes a good West Highland Way gift
A lot of people walk it as their first long-distance trail, which is part of why it stays with them. A good gift keeps hold of the walk itself: the route, the date they reached Fort William, and the names of whoever walked it with them.
A print of the route they walked
Our West Highland Way print shows the whole route from Milngavie to Fort William, drawn over an Ordnance Survey map with the climbs underneath. The route is already drawn, so you don’t need a GPX file or any details from them to order it.

You add:
- their name, or more than one: the name line is yours to write, so it works for a couple or a group
- the date they finished, or whichever date means most
- their time, if they’d like it on there
- a photo from the walk, if you have one
You see the finished print before you pay, so you can check every detail first.

If they walked it together
Plenty of people walk the West Highland Way with a partner, a friend or a group who’ve been talking about it for years. Put all their names on one print. It’s a good one to give to the whole group, or to keep for yourself if you were one of them.
If they went their own way
Took a detour up Ben Nevis at the end, or split the walk differently? If they recorded it, they can upload their own GPX file and the print is drawn from the line they actually walked. Our GPX help page shows how to export it from Strava, Garmin Connect, Komoot or OS Maps.
If they ran it
Some people do the whole thing in one go. For anyone who finished the West Highland Way Race, there’s a West Highland Way Race print with their finish time as the headline, drawn from their own GPX or the organisers’ 2026 course.
If you don’t know the details
Don’t know their finish date, or want them to choose the style? Give them a gift card instead. You choose the amount and the day it arrives by email, and they make the print themselves.
A few other ideas
- The next Scottish challenge. If Ben Nevis caught their eye at the finish, the National Three Peaks starts there. For a fell runner, the Charlie Ramsay Round starts and finishes in Glen Nevis.
- The long way round by road. If they want to see more of the Highlands without the blisters, we print the North Coast 500 too.
Questions people ask
Do I need their GPX file to buy a West Highland Way print?
No. The route is already drawn from Milngavie to Fort William. You only need their name and the date.
Can I put two names on it?
Yes. The name line is yours to write, so it works for a couple or a group.
They ran it as a race. Which print should I choose?
The West Highland Way Race print puts their finish time at the top. They can also add a time to the standard print if they’d rather.
Do you deliver outside the UK?
